What's Up

July 2007

Unlike most of the human race, I hate traveling. The luggage, the bad weather (San Francisco has spoiled me), the inconveniences of delayed flights and crooked cab drivers...is it any wonder I'd rather focus on the amenities of home? At any rate, I'm back from Dallas, where the Romance Writers of America held their 2007 annual conference. I'll spare you my whining about the weather (there isn't much to say beyond "90 degrees -- and raining"). I did enjoy seeing the friends whom I only see at the conference, and I made a couple of new friends as well. I won't miss my somewhat morbid hotel room, which featured an aerial view of The Grassy Knoll.

My optimism told me I could write at the conference, but harsh reality set in soon enough. Now that I'm back in San Francisco, I'm working on a new short story, "The Spy Who Spanked Me." Believe it or not, it's set in Regency England. There are so many fictional spies running around Regency London these days, I couldn't resist putting my own spin on a new trend. Look for it soon at Loose Id.

If you're a fan of historical romance, come chat with me -- and a host of talented authors -- on the History Hoydens blog.

Wow, where has the time gone! I've been terribly remiss in not posting about my brand new release, Still a Thief.

You might remember Jake from Once a Thief. That baddest of bad boys is back, and he's determined to show straightlaced attorney Katherine Kern what it means to date a dominant man. Yep, this is contemporary BDSM, with a warning label to match -- but I promise it won't scare you...not too much. Check it out over at Loose Id.

A huge thank you to my talented and long suffering editor, Maryam Salim, whose enthusiasm and praise keeps me going when it would be a heck of a lot easier to throw in the towel.

March 2007

I'm thrilled to announce a new release, Bedding the Beast. It's based on a novella I wrote several years ago titled A Valentine's Bride, but I've substantially revised the story. There's a paranormal element now, and some expanded love scenes to ramp up the heat level. You'll be able to purchase the book on February 13, just in time for Valentine's Day. Many thanks to my fabulous editor, Maryam Salim; my critique partners, Treva Harte and Judith Janeway; and cover artist extraordinaire April Martinez.
